Clifton Library - meet in the lobby
Meet at the Clifton Branch Library front porch to embark on a well-being walk! These occur weekly, but on the first Monday of each month, experts from the Osher Center for Integrative Health at the University of Cincinnati will lead a special Shinrin-Yoku (Forest Bathing) experience during our walk. Barbara Walker, PhD, and Kelly Lyle, MHA, MS, from the Osher Center are certified INFTA-Certified Forest Therapy Guides and will teach you skills to enhance your experience & well-being, including stronger immune system, lower blood pressure, decreased cortisol levels, improved mood, better sleep, and increase vigor, focus, & energy.
What is Shinrin-Yoku (Forest Bathing)? A practice originating in Japan, shinrin (“forest”) yoku (“bath”) means bathing in the forest atmosphere or taking in the forest through our senses. It is simply being in nature, connecting with it through our senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch.
Following the walk, join Dr. Barbara Walker, Director of the Nature as Medicine Program, for a monthly meetup to learn about the Nature as Medicine program, how to write your own personalized nature prescription that will work for you, evidence-based nature as medicine education and tips, and upcoming wellness events and classes that will help you meet your nature prescription goals.
