The Diagnostic Laboratory Management (DLM) rotation is a different way to experience clinical pathology. This rotation was developed in 2018 and is composed of 5 different blocks (DLM: A, B, C, D, and E) that occur throughout residents’ time at the University of Cincinnati. During each DLM rotation, residents sign out electrophoresis tests, coagulation tests, blood smears, and other clinical tests. Residents handle clinical pathology consults and participate in didactic sessions with clinical pathology faculty members. Residents participate in and present cases during DLM rounds which occur on a weekly basis. Also, residents present learning topics to medical technologists and their peers to further develop their knowledge in clinical pathology and presentation skills.
