Rotation Duties:
Bench Rotations: Residents will spend time on the bench with medical technologists. They will be exposed to a wide variety of laboratory techniques and technologies while learning how to recognize and identify both normal flora and pathogenic organisms. Residents will rotate at both University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital to see how different technologies and patient populations can affect laboratory workflows.
Presentations: When rotating on Microbiology, residents will give weekly informal plate rounds for the Infectious Diseases clinical teams, highlighting the laboratory features of the cases they are seeing clinically
Infectious Diseases Rotation: Residents have the option of spending 1-2 weeks rotating with the Infectious Diseases team.
