The UC Graduate School has approved a new graduate certificate in Telehealth. This certificate program is distance learning-based and is a collaborative effort between the colleges of Medicine and Nursing. The four-course (12 credit hours) program has been designed to help a wide variety of disciplines, including clinicians, nurses, allied health professionals and information technologists on the foundations and operations of this rapidly growing field.
The program is under the direction of Charles Doarn, professor in the Department of Environmental Health and an international leader in telemedicine. He is joined by Debi Sampsel, chief officer of innovation and entrepreneurship at the College of Nursing. Courses will start in this fall. The program is one of the first academic-based certificate programs in the nation. Doarn also serves as the director of UC’s Master of Public Health program within the Department of Environmental Health and is editor-in-chief of Telemedicine and e-Health Journal.
