The University of Cincinnati Education and Research Center Continuing Education Program, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, continues the tradition begun in 1949 of offering short courses in environmental and occupational health and safety through the Department of Environmental and Public Health Sciences, Established in 1983, the Office of Continuing Education assumed the coordination of the administrative and marketing functions of the program, allowing faculty to concentrate their efforts on course development. Through the cooperative effort the ERC Continuing Education Program has built a national reputation for offering excellence in environmental /occupational health and safety courses.
The ERC Continuing Education Program offers courses in all four ERC core areas: occupational medicine, occupational health nursing, environmental/industrial hygiene, and occupational safety. The program is interdisciplinary, utilizing faculty from the College of Medicine, the College of Nursing and Health, the College of Engineering, the University College Department of Math and Applied Sciences, and the College of Education. The role of the ERC Continuing Education Program includes the development of new short courses, the coordination of interdepartmental continuing education programming, marketing, administration, and program evaluation.
