OverviewAll students learn to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and design programs and systems to control exposures in the environmental or occupational setting that are causing or may be expected to result in adverse human health effects. Academic study at the Ph.D. level is available in three areas of concentration: Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Ergonomics, and Biomonitoring. Graduate study is supported by a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Education and Research training grant, University and other resources.

OverviewThe Environmental Genetics & Molecular Toxicology (EGMT) Graduate Program offers exciting training in cutting edge research to prepare for a career in academia, industry or government. The curriculum emphasizes genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying environmentally-related diseases. All doctoral graduate students are given a stipend, and are encouraged to be independent scholars, seeking fellowships and awards.
OverviewEpidemiology is defined as the study of the distribution and determinants of disease and injury within human populations. A goal of the epidemiologist is to identify the factors or agents that are linked with the observed patterns of disease or injury. The Division’s program stresses environmental, occupational, clinical, quantitative, community, molecular and genetic epidemiology.
