KyoungHyun Kim, PhD, assistant professor in the Department of Environmental Health, is the recipient of the 2016 Steven Goldman Memorial Pancreatic Cancer Research grant. He has received $56,715.15 for his winning abstract titled "A Role of Long Non-Coding RNA in Pancreatic Cancer Development.”
His research is aimed at identification and characterization of a novel gene network that directs the transition of benign pancreatic cancer to malignant cancer.
The Goldman fund, which is being used to drive research discovery in the field of pancreatic cancer at the UC College of Medicine and the UC Cancer Institute, also enhances the potential for additional research grant funding, federal or otherwise.
