Continuing Medical Education

The continuing medical education provided in the UC Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is a joint venture with the full time department faculty and The Christ Hospital Obstetrics & Gynecology private practice physician staff.

The department has Grand Rounds once a month with either an outside speaker from another academic program, a faculty member or local physician expert in their field. There is also monthly Morbidity and Mortality Conferences, Journal Club and Case Presentations.

These conferences are presented jointly with The Christ Hospital as there are typically 7-8 OB/GYN residents located at the hospital. All faculty, fellows and residents are required to attend these conferences. Each week’s conference is also presented as an interactive teleconference linked between the UC Department of OB-GYN in the Medical Sciences Building, The Christ Hospital and the UC Health Midtown and West Chester facilities.

In addition, each sub-specialty division has a cadre of its own conferences and educational activities.

The Maternal Fetal Medicine Division has joint Grand Rounds, Neonatology-Perinatology Conferences, Pediatric Cardiology Conferences and Fetal Care Center Conferences all with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. There are multiple other internal educational conferences and journal clubs within the division.

The Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility division has Monday evening Chapter Reviews with fellows and faculty. These are open to residents and other physicians to attend.

Gynecology Oncology has bi-monthly Tumor Board with the UC departments of pathology, radiation oncology and the division of hematology/oncology. The faculty, fellows and residents attend the Academy of Medicine Cincinnati Society of Obstetrics & Gynecology quarterly meetings.

These meetings offer the opportunity to present topical information and to discuss such information. They also present the opportunity to network with other physicians in the community about specific medical issues.
