Geriatric Medicine Program faculty are involved in clinical services established especially for older persons. These services include:
Our clinical faculty and residents provide care for veterans at the Geriatric Evaluation Center at VAMC in Cincinnati, OH. Our providers lead efforts to provide programs and services in a range of healthcare settings, such as acute care, home care, extended care, purchased home care, hospice and palliative care, and community- and facility-based care. The Geriatric Evaluation Center helps veterans, aged 65 and older, find solutions, whether it's evaluating a veteran's complex medical problems, providing advice on coping with memory loss, or helping a family make decisions about living arrangements.
Maple Knoll Village, a non-profit, continuing care retirement community in Springdale, Ohio, is a major teaching site for geriatrics training for UC medical students, residents, and fellows. Since 2012, Maple Knoll Communities has helped prepare a manuscript for tomorrow’s leaders through a formal affiliation with The University of Cincinnati. This affiliation has provided the next generation with hands-on experience that benefits residents and students. Residents and faculty provide ongoing care to residents of Maple Knoll through an on-site physician clinic.
Additional geriatric teaching practices occur at Marjorie P. Lee/Deupree retirement communities in Hyde Park/Oakley, Mt. Notre Dame Health Center in Reading, Bridgeway Pointe in central Cincinnati, and through UC Health and UC Physicians at numerous long-term care facilities throughout the city.
