In alignment with the mission and goals of the Family and Community Medicine Department, the research division strives to expand our knowledge, understanding and ability to provide quality primary care for our region and produce research that can improve care for all.
The research division fulfills three main functions within the department:
Our researchers have received federal funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), Health Resources and Services Administration, and Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM). We publish our work in peer reviewed journals and present our findings at regional, national and international meetings.
Like the practice of family medicine, our research is diverse and broad in scope, as can be seen by reviewing our active research and our monthly research newsletter. In designing and performing our research, we always come back to the most essential question for primary care research: "How will this work improve the lives of our patients?"
