Application Process

How Do I Apply?

  • We accept applications only through The Electronic Residency Applicaton Service (ERAS). We will begin reviewing applications as they come in on a rolling basis, beginning in late September 2023 and through January 2024.
  • Our ERAS Accredidation ID is 1203800004. Or you can search under Family Medicine for "West Chester."
  • Uploaded with your ERAS application, you will need:
    • Medical school transcript
    • MSPE/Dean's Letter
    • 3 Letters of Recommendation - preferably 2 from people who have worked with you clinically
    • Personal Statement
    • USMLE Scores / COMPLEX Scores

FAQs

  • Do you have STEP / COMPLEX cutoff scores?
    • We review applications holistically and understand that test scores are not in themselves predictors of clinical excellence. We do not have score cutoffs and will not automatically disregard applicants that have required a second attempt at a certifying exam. Show us in your application and interview how you are more than a number.
  • Will you consider international medical graduates?
    • We are excited to welcome candidates from non-US medical schools. We can accept a J-1 visa, although the costs will have to be borne by the applicant. We are not able to originate an H-1B visa.
    • International medical graduates will be required to have USMLE Step 2 results and ECFMG certification completed by the time of match list ranking, although it is not required to have this completed in time for applications.
    • We understand that the process of applying from a non-US medical school sets most applicants behind the time schedule of their US-matriculated peers. We will be looking for candidates that have graduated from medical school within the past 2-3 years, or who have demonstrated regular and applicable clinical experience for the past 2-3 years.
    • In addition to the application requirements above, IMGs will need to include a copy of their medical school diploma and ECFMG certification. The diploma and school transcript should be translated if applicable.
  • Do you sponsor Visas?
    • Yes, we can accept J-1 visas, but are not able to originate H-1B visas. All costs will need to be borne by the applicant. If you have a more complicated visa situation, please reach out and we can discuss your situation.
  • Are you open to nontraditional applicants / older applicants?
    • We are looking for a diverse class of residents that will bring their unique worldviews to strengthen each other.
  • What about Osteopathic (DO) medical graduates?
    • We welcome graduates of osteopathic medical schools. We do not require USMLE testing if COMPLEX-USA testing was completed.
  • Will you participate in The Match?
    • Yes, we will participate in ERAS for applications (ERAS Accredidation ID: 1203800004) and the NRMP for The Match.
  • When will I find out if I've matched your program?
    • Match Day is March 15 at 12pm EDT. Find out more at nrmp.org.
  • Will you offer any positions outside of The Match?
    • No, we will have 6 first-year residency positions open to The Match. If we do not fill, we will participate in the Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program (SOAP) to search for the best candidates for our program. We will not be making any offers outside of this process.
  • Will you offer upper-level (R2 or R3) residency positions this year?
    • We do not plan on offering any R2 or R3 residency positions, and will grow our residency year by year as each class moves up.
  • Will you offer in-person or virtual interviews?
    • We will again be interviewing 100% virtual for this 2023 Match season.
    • Our interviews will be scheduled mid-October through early January in approximately 4 hour blocks that will include 3-4 video interviews, informational sessions, and break times.
    • Interview invitations will be sent out via e-mail on a rolling basis as applications are reviewed.
  • Can I rotate with you for a clinical clerkship or observership?
    • We do not currently have capacity for outside clerkship students and observers.
