This course will provide students with a brief introduction to the HIV/AIDS epidemic and will cover modes of transmission, the virus life cycle, prevention/education, treatment strategies, and social/ethical issues.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Describe the global HIV/AIDS epidemic
  • Describe the modes of HIV transmission
  • Describe the HIV replication cycle
  • Outline HIV prevention and education strategies
  • Describe current HIV treatment strategies
  • Evaluate social and ethical issues related to HIV/AIDS
