The Division of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery offers training in all aspects facial plastic & reconstruction giving increased responsibility through the residency experience. These areas include reconstructing facial skin cancer defects, repairing facial skin and bone injuries, performing surgery to improve facial function from facial paralysis, and participating in procedures to improve facial function and appearance.
Specifically, during the PGY-4 year, a full 3 month rotation is exclusively dedicated to the facial plastic surgery. Outpatient clinics, operating room experiences, and classroom didactics are all designed to ensure that residents have a solid foundation of all aspects of facial plastics and reconstructive surgery. Research opportunities in the area of utilizing growth factors to improve wound healing and to reduce dermal scarring are available.
