The University of Cincinnati’s Department of Environmental and Public Health Sciences is 1 of 37 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive a training grant from the Department of Labor for Workplace Safety and Health Training on Infectious Diseases, including COVID-19 hazards. This award derives from the Susan Harwood Training Grant Program and funding was made available by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. Training will include a 3-hour course which will focus on the identification and prevention of infectious diseases in the workplace. This new training opportunity will be available to companies who employ under 250 employees at no cost. Training will be available at one of the University of Cincinnati campuses or at your site. Tania Carreon-Valencia, Ph.D.
Daryl A. Daniels Daryl Daniels CSP, CIT, is a Safety Professional and Industrial Hygienist with over 30 years of field work and management experience. Daryl has worked in the Aerospace Industry at the Kennedy Space Center for Lockheed Space Operations, he has worked in Chemical Manufacturing, in the Electric Generation and Transmission industry, in the Automotive industry, and in the Public Sector. Daryl is also the founder and president of CSP Safe LLC. Daryl’s work experience include Auditing, Chemical Exposure Assessments, Management Systems Development, Programs and Procedures Development, and Training.
Cynthia Eghbalnia, MPH, CIH, CSP Cynthia Eghbalnia is a passionate Environmental, Health and Safety professional with a commitment to innovative and sustainable improvements in workplace culture that translates to quantitative and cost effective results. Cynthia is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) with extensive experience in the safety, health and environmental arenas. Her diverse background encompasses settings that includes education (K12 and Higher Ed.), manufacturing, construction, and transportation sectors. Her professional experience includes working for an international environmental consulting firm as a staff industrial hygienist and environmental scientist, a technical college system holding the positions of District Environmental, Health Safety (EHS) and Security Manager, and Risk Manager, and for a large urban K12 school district as EHS and Worker’s Compensation Administrator. Currently, Cynthia is serving as the Area Director of Safety for National Express, LLC for the Great Lakes Region.
Florence A. Fulk, Ph.D. Dr. Florence Fulk holds a doctorate degree in epidemiology. Dr. Fulk had a successful career with the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Research and Development from 1990 until 2017. She has extensive experience with the application of experimental design and statistical analysis of data across numerous scientific disciplines (public health, ecology, biology, microbiology, engineering, chemistry, and quality assurance). Dr. Fulk actively engaged in management from 2002-2015, serving as both a branch chief within the Ecosystem Exposure Research Division and its acting director from 2005-2009. She spent the last 5 years at EPA as a task lead in Sustainable and Healthy Communities (SHC) Research Program, where she promoted the use of Health Impact Assessment (HIA) and led the development of multiple HIAs to inform community decision-making. Currently Dr. Fulk is training the next generation of public health specialists through the MPH programs at the University of Cincinnati and the University of Kentucky.
