About Us

The 64-member Center for Environmental Genetics (CEG) is a leading force in the study of gene-environment interactions (GxE) and the translation of research into targeted advances in primary prevention and clinical care.

Our mission

To conduct innovative, multidisciplinary GXE research and translate understanding of risk stratification to disease prevention via community empowerment, at home and around the globe. CEG investigators, trainees, collaborators, and staff are guided in this mission by our Internal and External Advisory Boards and by the Stakeholders Advisory Board of our Community Engagement Core.

About the Director

The CEG is led by Director Susan M. Pinney, Ph.D., F.A.C.E., a Fellow of the American College of Epidemiologists, and a member of the Cincinnati Cancer Center. A prolific researcher and author, she currently leads multiple grants, including R01, R03, and R24 awards reflecting more than $1.5 million in additional total research support.

About our Members

Among the 64 investigators who serve as full, clinical, or associate members of the CEG are New Investigators whose Center support is already generating noteworthy Returns on Investment.  CEG New Investigator Awardees, Pilot award recipients, and other sub-awardees have generated average returns of 13:1 and greater through innovative and exploratory projects leading to larger R21, R00, and R-01 type studies.
