The student in the combined degree program will remain under the jurisdiction of the College of Medicine's Academic Standards throughout the entire program and the standards of the MBA program for that portion of his/her education.
The College of Medicine Promotion Board must approve any exceptions to the program as outlined in the section below on Pathways.
Participation in the dual degree program requires an acceptable level of academic performance in the College of Medicine. Any student who receives an "R" (Remediate) or "F" (Fail) grade in any medical school course will be ineligible to participate in the program. All such students will remain under the jurisdiction of the COM Academic Standards.
Students who do not achieve a satisfactory level of performance in the MBA program will be dismissed from that program. If the dismissal is of an academic nature the student may remain in the MD degree program provided that he/she otherwise meets COM requirements.
If the student is dismissed from the MBA component for issues of professional behavior, such student will be referred to the COM Honor Council for a determination as to whether the student may remain in the MD degree program.
Students are required to pass Step 1 of the USMLE examination prior to entering the Clinical Biennium. Students are required to pass Step 2 of the USMLE prior to graduation.
