Director's Welcome

Welcome to the Physician Scientist Training Program (PSTP) at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Our mission is your success as a physician/scientist.

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine has a rich tradition of scholarship and our physicians and scientists. The Department of Internal Medicine (DOIM) alone was responsible for securing over over $100 million in external direct funding in 2021, with a 40% extramural grant submission success rate. The staff within the DOIM is actively involved in independent and collaborative research projects throughout the College of Medicine and train dozens of students, residents and fellows in basic, translational and clinical research projects every year.

The physicians in the DOIM care for patients and train medical students, residents and fellows at University of Cincinnati Medical Center and UC College of Medicine. We have highly qualified and enthusiastic physician, scientists and physician-scientist mentors available for our program in general Internal Medicine as well as many of our subspecialties.

Our physicians also provide care to the most complex clinical cases in the community; performing inpatient and outpatient services and procedures at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, VA Medical Center, Drake Hospital and West Chester Hospital.

The PSTP is committed to training the most talented physicians for a career in academic medicine by harnessing the strengths of our research and clinical faculty. We offer a purposefully flexible program that will ensure that our graduates possess excellent clinical and research skills that will make them highly competent physicians and strong researchers with the ability to initiate and maintain independent research programs.
