About

The Midwest AIDS Training and Education Center (MATEC) at the University of Cincinnati is the MATEC partner site in the state of Ohio. MATEC is a publicly-funded training center, providing clinical training and support to health care professionals. The regional headquarters are located at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at the Chicago Department of Family Medicine.  MATEC at the University of Cincinnati offers education, training and capacity building programs specifically designed to improve HIV/AIDS care, treatment and prevention services for all levels of health care professionals for the state. 

Educational offerings include, but are not limited to:

• Mini preceptorships
• Clinical consultations
• Dissemination of educational resources
• Didactic lectures
• Skill based training

Target Audience

Programs are targeted to health care providers who work within any health care facility including:

• Physicians and physician assistants
• Nurses and nurse practitioners
• Dentists
• Pharmacists

Training activities are based upon individual practitioner and general site needs. Our site collaborates with area academic health centers, community health centers, community-based HIV/AIDS organizations, and medical and health professional organizations, including organizations that serve minority populations, the homeless, rural communities, incarcerated persons and Ryan White funded sites.
