Our Tripartite Mission
To educate the health care workforce, conduct innovative biomedical and clinical research, and deliver high-quality patient care.
Within the hospital medicine department, we tailor our hospitalist career to these basic principles. When working for the University of Cincinnati hospitalist group, you have the opportunity to work on a variety of teams that include general medicine teaching services, hospitalist teams, consults, transition clinic, admission shifts and subspecialty services. Our goal is to promote our physicians and give them a defined career path, financial stability, and improved work-life balance.
Our physicians grow within multiple venues including academics, teaching roles with our medical students and residents, administrative and leadership roles (ie Unit directors and committee involvement), operational goals which can include but are not inclusive ie EPIC champions and physician advisory roles. We also encourage promotion through professorship as well and guide our physicians through the process.
Our physicians have endless opportunities at multiple levels to teach from the student and resident lectures, grand rounds or at one of our division M&Ms, Acute Care Series or Coding/Billing and documentation lectures. Everyone loves the opportunity to share new information.
We also know that sometimes hospital medicine is not our physician’s last stop. Some start in our division knowing they want fellowship, and some grow to love a subspecialty through hospital medicine and our collaborative network. We encourage collaboration through research and interdivisional educational conferences, giving our hospitalists the opportunity to interact with the subspecialty of their interest.
