Clinical training at the University of Cincinnati's CCEP fellowship follows the recommendations outlined in the 2015 ACC/AHA/HRS Advanced Training Statement on Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology COCATS 4 Task Force 11: Training in Arrhythmia Diagnosis and Management, Cardiac Pacing, and Electrophysiology.
The program at the University of Cincinnati provides the education necessary to reach COCATS Level III training which is required of individuals seeking subspecialty board certification in CCEP ABIM CCEP Training Board Eligibilty Requirements.
During the two-year program, fellows in Cardiac Electrophysiology will be provided the education and mentorship to develop the knowledge of intracardiac recordings from the high right atrium, HIS bundle electrogram, RV apex and coronary sinus tracing.
Fellows will gain the knowledge of basic electrophysiologic concepts in sinus node function, AV nodal function, and the concept of measuring a refractory period in the atrium, the ventricle, and the AV node.
