Dr. Yanbo Fan, Assistant Professor in the COM Department of Cancer Biology, has been awarded an R01 grant from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health. The R01 grant entitled “CCDC92 and cardiovascular disease" will explore the role and mechanisms by which coiled-coil domain containing 92 (CCDC92) regulates vascular smooth muscle cell dysfunction under diabetic conditions. The study will shed light on the vascular effects of CCDC92 and the human variants, which would serve as the foundation for the potential therapeutic strategy for diabetes-associated cardiovascular disease.
