Medical Student Grand Rounds

Medical Student Grand Rounds (MSGR) is a lecture series delivered by UCCOM medical students. This opportunity allows presenters to select broad topics of interest and translate them into talks that can be appreciated by a wide audience. MSGR facilitates peer-to-peer exchange of knowledge and amplifies the student perspective on important topics in medicine. The talks are held in-person monthly and simultaneously aired live via virtual platform.

Details regarding upcoming Medical Student Grand Rounds may be found on LEO and on this page. Past presentations are available in the archive below.

Proposed talks should consist of the following:

  • 40-50 minutes talk designed to highlight outstanding MedCat experiences through a grand rounds-style presentation
  • Topic should have wide educational value to the student body and College of Medicine at-large.
  • Talk should focus on work the student is directly involved with and/or a topic they seek to better understand.
  • Talk must be rooted in evidence-based medicine and include literature review of the topic.

In the coming year, we are highly interested in topics that have not been presented previously at Medical Student Grand Rounds.  Additionally, every speaker is required to have a faculty mentor.

Presenting provides great opportunity to grow your CV through a meaningful capstone experience while educating our student body on important themes in medicine. UCCOM students may be selected to speak at Medical Student Grand Rounds and/or CCTST Grand Rounds.

The MSGR Topic Proposal Form is CLOSED for the 2024-2025 school year.  The proposal form for 2025-2026 will open in early 2025.

Questions or inquiries may be directed to Devon Baird.

The Center for Clinical & Translational Science & Training (CCTST) provides medical students with great resources including appropriate subject matter experts. Become a member of CCTST at CTRonline and visit CCTST Grand Rounds for upcoming talks.
