The following award programs were created for our PhD students to support their ability to attend premier academic events; to recognize excellence in research; to fund innovative ideas; and to support excellence in teaching. Please see below for award descriptions, links, and recent award winners.

The BMI Travel Fellowship is for students who have been accepted to present at a conference (oral presentation/poster).
Award Amount: Up to $1,000 per student.

Please note: The Travel Fellowship Committee meets on a quarterly basis; we encourage students to submit applications WELL in advance in order to determine whether expenses will be supported ahead of travel.
The BMI Rising Star Award provides support for an outstanding student in BMI.
Amount: $2,500

The BMI Creative Scholar Award provides support for the next generation of BMI researchers with independent and innovative ideas that have the potential to significantly impact the field of biomedical informatics.
Grant Amount:Up to $5,000

Recipients of the BMI Teaching Fellowship will be required to serve as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for one semester during the academic year in which the fellowship is granted.
Fellowship Amount: $2,500
