Research
All the trainees participate in clinical research throughout the year. Every resident partners with another resident and the team of two trainees take up a quality improvement project as part of mandatory ACGME requirement. There are plenty of opportunities available for research especially in collaboration with other divisions in general surgery as trauma, cardiothoracic surgery as well the non-invasive vascular laboratory. There is current research ongoing in the following areas in the division:
- Ruptured AAA
- Laparoscopic aorto-bifemoral bypass
- Epidemiology of vascular trauma
- Predictors of bleeding during thrombolysis
- Vein graft stenosis
- Seasonal aspect of DVT
- Duplex-scan findings of subclavian artery stenosis
- Blunt traumatic aortic injury
Residents are supported to attend national and regional meetings every year in addition to the ones in which they are presenting a paper.
