The Department of Internal Medicine (DOIM) at the University of Cincinnati is devoted to nurturing the professional development of new physicians. To ensure ALL trainees have every opportunity to pursue their academic interests, the DOIM has established career pathways to develop remarkable clinical investigators focused on clinical and translational research.
The Outcomes Research Fellowship Program in General Internal Medicine offers a 2-year fellowship, including a Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Research. The program is designed for fellows or junior faculty in General Internal Medicine or medical subspecialties who plan to pursue a career in academics as a clinician-researcher. Scholars will have 75% protected time dedicated to research and coursework with the remaining effort allocated to clinical responsibilities.
Throughout the program, trainees participate in clinical- and translational-research-specific professional development opportunities, including personalized career mentoring.
UC’s Outcomes Research Scholars have many opportunities for professional development including formal coursework, seminars, travel stipends for scientific meetings, and close mentorship for their academic development.
