The laboratory of Dr. Cushion is located at the Cincinnati Veteran Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) and consists of about 1900 sq. ft and is fully stocked with all equipment needed for her research needs including centrifuges, freezers, walk-in cooler and 3 certified biological safety cabinets. At the VAMC, animal studies are performed in the Veterinary Medical Unit (VMU) which has >7000 sq. ft. of space to perform BSL-1 and BSL-2 research. The VMU is AAALAC approved, staffed with full veterinary and technical support and provides education and training to all investigators. All animal rooms are fully equipped with the appropriate PPE to limit biohazard exposure.
