The University of Cincinnati Medical Center Cardiothoracic Anesthesia Division offers a comprehensive and intense one-year clinical training program designed to graduate a competent clinical and academic leader. The program is designed to challenge the fellow to become an expert in not only cardiothoracic anesthesia within the operating room but also in the perioperative setting. The ACTA fellowship program allows the fellow to train and experience a multidisciplinary academic environment so that skills and abilities in delivering patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning and quality improvements are all developed to their fullest potential.
The fellowship program offers 1 ACGME position each year to qualified applicants. The fellowship program fulfills the ACGME program requirements for Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology as well as the National Board of Echocardiography (NBE) requirements for certification in Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography.
Facilities are readily available at all times to provide prompt, noninvasive diagnostic and therapeutic cardiothoracic procedures, including echocardiography, cardiac stress testing, cardiac catheterization, electrophysiological testing and therapeutic intervention, cardiopulmonary scanning procedures, and pulmonary function testing.
