Heat Strain in Maternal Health: Qualitative Insights from Uganda

Presenter: Annabelle Marusic, Research Assistant

Annabelle Marusic holds a Bachelor's degree in neuropharmacology from King's College London, United Kingdom, and a Master's degree in Public Health, specialising in health promotion and prevention, from Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. Her thesis, conducted with the Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Health (CESH), examined midwives' experiences of heat exposure and adaptation in rural Uganda, building on an earlier interest in planetary health developed at the Sunway Centre for Planetary Health in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Her time with the Collective Service at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Geneva, Switzerland, shaped an enduring interest in health equity and community-centred values in public health practice. She is now working as a Research Assistant at CESH.
