It is my privilege to welcome you to the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Cincinnati, as we continue the long tradition of world class compassionate patient care, exceptional clinical and technical training for our next generation of neurosurgeons, and leadership in the field of neurosurgery through groundbreaking research. We remain the only academic medical center and adult Level I trauma center in the region, which means we are always ready to care for patients with both “simple” neurosurgical problems to those deemed too complex for our community hospitals. Our faculty, residents, fellows and staff are among the best in the nation, and some of the most respected neurosurgeons and specialists in the world.
Providing the best patient care available is the core of our mission, and is true for all our neurosurgical subspecialties including spine surgery, neuro-oncology (brain and spine tumors), skull base surgery, cerebrovascular and endovascular surgery (such as stroke or aneurysms), functional neurosurgery (such as for epilepsy or Parkinson’s disease), peripheral nerve surgery, neurotrauma and neurosurgical critical care, and pediatric neurosurgery in affiliation with our Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
Our affiliation with local hospitals and neurosurgery groups ensures that we provide our patients with state-of-the-art compassionate clinical care in all areas of neurosurgery. Our academic group continues to be ranked among the best as educators and teachers, and our neurosurgery residency and fellowship programs remain one of the largest and most highly sought-after training programs in the nation. This is no doubt in part due to comprehensive education provided by close collaboration with our world class clinical and research colleagues in neurology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, anesthesia, radiology and rehabilitation within the UC Gardner Neuroscience Institute and collaborators within the UC Cancer Institute.
I invite you to explore our website and take a glimpse at our department. I believe that you will see why the neurosurgery program at the University of Cincinnati is a recognized leader in the community and a destination for patient care, education and research.
