Welcome to University Health Services. The mission of University Health Services is to provide superb health care and health education in a compassionate and caring environment, and to assist the University in providing a safe environment for students and employees.
Students are seen by appointment at University Health Services. Same Day appointments are available depending on demand and time of day. Contacting UHS as early as possible is the best way to maximize your chance of getting a same day appointment. If none are available, you will be assessed by one of our triage nurses and provided with an appropriate plan of care. This may consist of guidance on how to manage symptoms at home and/or being scheduled in the next available appointment, emergency expedited care, or referral to an off-campus treatment center. We will always do our best to work in patients with acute illnesses and injuries.
Students with more urgent medical situations who cannot wait until the next available appointment time may be referred to a local Urgent Care clinic or the UC Health Emergency Department. For urgent physician consultation after hours, call (513) 556-2564.
UC Health Emergency Department is located at 3199 Highland Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45219 and can be reached at (513) 584-1000.
You will be asked to create a MyChart account through UC Health.
If you eCheck-In, fill out the below forms on MyChart, or upon arrival if you Check-In in person:
Locate any health insurance information and bring it with you or upload it to MyChart in advance. Please note that insurance is not required to utilize services at UHS, but can help reduce the out-of-pocket cost. In addition, you will need to bring a photo ID (i.e., driver’s license or Bearcat Card).
Bring a list of current medications and allergies, or upload to MyChart in advance. Please specify the name of the medication, dosage amount, and how often it is taken. Provide this list to the clinical support staff during the visit.
UHS can arrange for an interpreter during your appointment. Please make your request for this service at the time of scheduling.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment. Once you arrive, the clinical support staff will perform a quick physical assessment (temperature, blood pressure, pulse) and ask a few questions about your illness symptoms or medical need.
A medical provider will then visit with you and discuss your illness further, ask about medical history, then perform an appropriate exam for your illness. A comprehensive exam is usually done as part of an annual physical exam.
For individuals with multiple medical concerns, time constraints may prevent the provider from addressing all concerns. Another visit may be scheduled for further evaluation.
A follow-up appointment may be arranged before you leave.
After your visit, you may continue to follow-up with your provider through secure messaging via MyChart.
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please call us at least 24 hours in advance. Because of the high demand for services, canceling in advance will enable us to fill the appointment time with another person who needs medical care.
It is our policy that if you arrive more than 15 minutes late, you will be rescheduled.
