Dr. Joseph Broderick

Joseph Broderick, MD, is the Medical Director at the UC Gardner Neuroscience Institute, and has been a Neurologist with UC Physicians since 1987. Dr. Broderick became a professor of Neurology at the University of Cincinnati in 1996, and was the Albert Barnes Voorheis Chair for the Department of Neurology at the UC College of Medicine from 2000-2014. He has served as a courtesy staff member in 15 community hospitals for over 25 years, and is currently principal investigator of the NIH-funded National Coordinating Center for StrokeNET

Dr. Broderick is an internationally recognized expert on the treatment and underlying causes of stroke. Dr. Broderick’s two-fold passion is to improve the treatment and outcome of stroke patients world-wide, using the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky region as a model, and to have world class patient care and research for all areas of neurologic disease at the University of Cincinnati Gardner Neuroscience Institute. As a native Cincinnatian who is from a family with a large number of local physicians, Dr. Broderick sees the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region as a wonderful place to live and practice medicine.

Angela Black, MBA

Angie Black is the Executive Administrative Director of the UC Gardner Neuroscience Institute (UCGNI). In her role, Angie is responsible for strategic planning, business development, and program implementation for UCGNI. Prior to joining UC Health in 2018, Angie worked for Premier Health in Dayton for 11 years, as an operations director and the neuroscience service line director. She has almost 20 years experience in healthcare administration and is a Dayton Business Journal 40 Under 40 Award recipient. She received her Master of Business Administration, with a Healthcare Management concentration from Indiana Wesleyan University and her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from the University of Toledo

Dr. Daniel Woo

Daniel Woo, MD, is the Clinical Research Associate Director for UCGNI and Vice-Chair of Research for the Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine. He has been a neurologist with the University of Cincinnati Neuroscience Institute and UC Health since 1998. Dr. Woo trained at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation prior to his fellowship in Cerebrovascular Disease at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Woo has been as a member of the UC Institutional Review Board (IRB) including serving as the vice-Chair of the IRB as well as the development and medical directorship of the University of Cincinnati’s Post-Approval Monitoring Program. As a neurologist, Dr. Woo specializes in the treatment of stroke and a wide variety of neurologic problems in his general neurology clinic.

Dr. Woo is an internationally recognized researcher in the genetic epidemiology of stroke and a founding member of the International Stroke Genetics Consortium, associate editor of the Journal for Stroke Research and Treatment, as well as a member of the editorial board of the American Heart Association journal Stroke. He also belongs to the Stroke Progress Review Group (SPRG) and is an active member of the American Neurological Association, which recognizes the top members of the academic field of Neurology.

In addition, Dr. Woo provides neurologic subspecialty care to a population of patients with limited resources for healthcare as a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Hospital – Price Hill Free Clinic. Dr. Woo earned the designation of Best Doctors in America and Top Doctors in Cincinnati.
